Saudi Arabia Purchases USA Largest Oil Refinery – Qatar Purchases USA Only Liquid Natural Gas Export Facility

The Saudi’s own the largest oil refinery in the USA, really? Yes, really. Qatar owns the only Liquid Natural Gas Export facility in the USA, really? Yes really.

While we were apparently sleeping, Saudi Arabia’s government controlled corporation Aramco www.armaco.com along with Royal Dutch Shell www.shell.com quietly purchased the largest refinery in the United States of America. It is the  Motiva Oil Refinery www.motivaenterprises.com  in Port Arthur, Texas. Yes, Port Arthur Texas. To add insult to injury, OPEC member Qatar owner of  Qatar Petroleum International www.qpi.com.qa is now 70% owner of the Golden Pass LNG Export Plant http://www.goldenpasslng.com/ in the USA which controls ALL export of United States Liquid Natural Gas www.naturalgas.org/lng/lng.asp (LNG).

Qatar now owns 70% of the only liquid natural gas producing facility in the United States. This leaves the US a minimum of 7 years until a new export facility is ready to produce. Why did Congress allow this? Bakken Energy Service

Qatar now owns 70% of the only liquid natural gas producing facility in the United States. This leaves the US a minimum of 7 years until a new export facility is ready to produce. Why did Congress allow this?

So let me  get this straight, as we are clamoring for energy independence from OPEC and other foreign countries, we now have these same OPEC countries calling the shots  in the USA, really? Yes Really.

So what does that mean to for the future of oil independence? The quick answer, there will be no energy independence for the USA. You see, the Motiva Oil Refinery in Port Arthur Texas, after a $10 Billion expansion paid for by the Saudi’s and Royal Dutch Shell is now able to refine up to 600,000 Million Barrels of  Saudi dirty crude. The Saudi Crude actually has a higher sulfur content than the dirty crude coming out of Venezuela.

Sadly, this means the  Saudi’s and Royal Dutch Shell have single handily replaced a minimum of 600,000 million barrels of oil that could have come from the Bakken, Canadian Oil Sands, or many other locations  in North America. So much for sweet Bakken Crude.

Now for the country Qatar which is located on peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Persian Gulf and boarders Saudi Arabia.  Why should we be concerned that this tiny OPEC country controls ALL   export of OUR Liquid Natural Gas? I guess we can start with national security. Qatar Petroleum International   a subsidiary of state owned Qatar Petroleum  won permission (from our Federal Government)  last year to export United States  LNG fuel to nations with free-trade agreements with the U.S. and is awaiting approval to send the fuel to all other countries. This means the United States  LNG  future and all LNG exports are out of our hands and into the hands of a mighty OPEC member. Granted, Exxon Mobile has an estimated 12% ownership, but who do you think is going to make the final decisions Mr. 70% or Mr. 12%?

Is Liquid Natural Gas important to the future of the US? Thomas Farrell ,Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Natural Gas producer Dominion Resources Inc. www.dom.com said  “The U.S. needs to act quickly to take advantage of overseas demand for its glut of natural gas or lose market share to international competitors.” Oh really, international competitors? It seems we just sold our soul to an international competitor. Dominion Resources with love to export LNG but they are not licensed to do so and the earliest they could build an export facility would be 2017.

Farrell then went on to say “The U.S. faces competition from countries including Australia, Canada, Indonesia and Qatar.”  And I say “Oh, you mean the same Qatar that just bought our largest and only export facility for Liquid Natural Gas?”  Take that, Bakken Natural Gas.

I find myself extremely frustrated. Most of my frustration comes from my inability to balance national security with capitalism. I understand why Saudi Arabia and Qatar came to the US and purchase viable businesses. I understand why Saudi Arabia and Qatar want to have a foothold in the United the  world’s largest market. What I do not understand is how this is good for the my United States.

It seems in a time of international turmoil, especially in the Middle East, that we would hedge our bets by controlling our energy bloodline. Our politicians warn energy is a matter of national security, so why are we giving the keys to the hen house to those who may turn out to be the fox?

Capitalism is good for the most part, competition can bring on innovation leading to  a reduction in the cost of consumer  goods. With this being said, when is capitalism trumped by national security?  We would not allow Saudi Arabia to purchase Boeing or Qatar to purchase General Dynamics,  so why allow them to have such a large footprint in our oil and gas industry? If energy independence is truly a matter of national security then it would appear we just opened the backdoor and now the opposition is in our living room.

Venezuela Picking a Fight with USA while Obama Holds up Keystone XL Pipeline

Venezuela Picking a Fight with USA while Obama Holds up Keystone XL Pipeline. In a show of utter arrogance Venezuela  sticks it’s finger in President Obama’s eye.  Apparently the fraudulent election in Venezuela  feels Mr. Obama has a real weakness and he is in their pocket when it comes to crude oil.

Instead of approving the the Keystone XL Pipeline which can replace 100% of the 900,000 barrels per day of dirty, high carbon oil we import from  Venezuela  each day, the Obama administration continues to go against the vast majority of Americans who are in favor of building the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Obama seems to be practicing a hypocritical game.  Obama can not understand how Congress will not pass expanding back ground checks on all firearms sold in the USA  even though it is backed by a majority of the people. Well, here you go Mr. President, approve the Keystone XL Pipeline which is backed by the vast majority of US citizens and walk the walk.

Venezuela  stepped up attacks on the United States, threatening retaliatory measures affecting trade and energy if Washington resorts to sanctions in a row over the country’s disputed presidential election.  Vowing not to go back on the late Hugo Chavez’s revolution, President Nicolas Maduro said at a swearing-in ceremony for his new cabinet, “There will be no pact here of any kind with the bourgeoisie. Make no mistake.

He accused the United States of threatening Venezuela, and spoke with approval of the warning to Washington leveled earlier in the day by Foreign Minister Elias Jaua in Guayaquil, Ecuador. “If the United States takes recourse to economic sanctions, or sanctions of any other kind, we will take measures of a commercial, energy, economic and political order that we consider necessary,” Jaua said in a television interview.

It came after a senior State Department official was quoted as urging Venezuela to recount the votes in the April 14 election to give the public confidence in the result.  The United States has so far withheld recognition of the official election results, which gave Maduro a narrow victory over opposition candidate Henrique Capriles, setting off violent protests that left eight dead.

US Assistant Secretary of State Roberta Jacobson was reported over the weekend to have said that the election council acted too quickly in proclaiming Maduro the winner, and that half of Venezuelans do not have confidence in the result.

Asked if the United States would impose sanctions if Venezuela refused to recount the votes, Jacobson said she could not say one way or another, according to CNN en Espanol.

The United States imports some 900,000 barrels of oil a day from Venezuela, which produces between 2.3 million and three million barrels a day. Venezuela, which depends on oil sales for 90 percent of its revenues, sits atop the world’s largest proven crude oil reserves.

Please Mr. President, listen to the majority of the US people who want the Keystone XL Pipeline built. Please Mr. President, stop the importing of filthy Venezuelan oil who’s government is in disarray and a communist government who hates the USA.

MDU Resources To Break Ground April 24th , 2013 in Dickinson ND covered by Bakken Energy Service

MDU Resources www.mdu.com to break  ground April 24th , 2013 in Dickinson North Dakota www.dickinsongov.com/  marking the construction of the first  oil refinery  in the USA in the last 35 years. Tim Fisher CEO/Founder of Bakken Energy Service www.bakkenenergyservice.com will be live on KFYR www.kfyr.com Energy Matters radio show on 550 AM in Bismarck, ND.

The following is taken from  Round-up Web http://www.roundupweb.com/story/2013/03/06/energy/dickinson-diesel-refinery-to-ease-demand/2338.html

“In a state boasting some of the heaviest over-the-road trucking activity in the nation, the creation of a diesel refinery plant could be just what the western side of the state of North Dakota needs to help quench the insatiable thirst the area has for diesel fuel.

As the demand for diesel fuel continues to be stretched passed the limits of local capabilities, two companies are taking part in a joint venture and making plans to help meets diesel consumption needs, while creating sustainable jobs in the Dickinson, N.D ., area.

MDU Resources Group, of Bismarck and Calumet Specialty Product Partners, of Indianapolis, Indiana, have announced that Dakota Prairie Refining, is set to become operational in late 2014, and will be capable of producing 20,000 barrels of Bakken crude oil and other hydrocarbons each day. Crude will be transported by pipeline to the facility where approximately 7,000 barrels of diesel will be made and used in North Dakota.

The goal is to keep as much product in the region as possible.

Ground breaking is set for April with construction expected to take about 20 months. The refinery will sit on a 318-acre site located four miles west of Dickinson, directly south of Interstate 94.

The plant’s construction is expected to cost between $280 million and $300 million.

“This site was chosen specifically because of its close proximity to the railroads, roads, electricity, natural gas lines, water and sewer,” said Rick Mattleson, Director of Communications and Public Affairs for MDU.

Once operational, the 24/7 refinery will sustain about 100 jobs and create between 400 and 500 during the peak construction phases. Mattleson said the large amount of construction employees will also bring revenues into the economy as they utilize local services and new community members will add to the tax base.

The project’s ability to move forward is contingent on approval of an air quality permit from the North  Department of Health. The application and public comment process has already taken place.

Dennis Johnson, City Mayor said he is excited about the potential economic impact the refinery will have on Dickinson. “This will create good paying, sustainable jobs that are not subject to the ups and downs of the price of oil. It may also create spill-off jobs and entice incoming businesses to come here because of the refinery,” Johnson said.

To alleviate traffic in Dickinson and accommodate for truck flows, the North Dakota Department of Transportation is considering an additional off ramp located off Interstate 94 that will allow the truck route to tie directly into the Interstate. It will tentatively be called Exit 56. “I think the collaboration between the city and the state for this project will help provide an impetus for the state to help them with getting the bypass built and other restructuring needs,” Mattleson said.

Dickinson is currently building a waste water treatment plant that is on tap for completion around the time the refinery will also be completed. It will supply approximately 175,000 gallons of grey water to the refinery for its daily use but will be capable of producing between three and four million gallons daily. Of the water supplied to the refinery, many of those gallons will be recycled through the system.

The plant is expected to emit 125,000 tons per year of carbon dioxide but will utilize the most advanced emissions-control technology available.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has met with officials from MDU Resources and Calumet to discuss the refinery and told them the state would continue to assist them throughout the planning process.

“The development of another refinery has been a long-time goal of our state and with this project we are achieving that goal. The decision by MDU Resources Group and Calumet to move forward on a new diesel fuel refinery is good news for North Dakota,” the Governor said.

The Tesoro Refinery in Mandan is currently the only refinery located in the state and is capable of processing some 68,000 barrels per day.

Current demand for diesel in North Dakota   is estimated at 53,000 barrels per day and is expected to increase to 75,000 barrels per day by the year 2025.

Mattleson said MDU has spent a considerable amount of time forging its strong partnership with Calumet and is also ensuring the project meets all of the state’s regulatory guidelines and requirements.

“We are very excited. It’s not often this type of project lines up with a ready market where demand is tremendous. Both companies are committed to being good members of the community and one of the ways we are doing this is by keeping the lines of communication open with the pubic and letting people know we are willing to work with them,” Mattleson said.”

Chris Faulkner CEO Breitling Oil and Gas www.breitlingoilandgas.com is turning heads away from the sun. Mr. Faulkner has been a former guest on the radio show “Energy Matters” www.kfyr.com  interviewed by  Energy Matters Co-Host and CEO of Bakken Energy Service www.bakkenenergyservice.com  Tim Fisher. Chris Faulkner also shares his vast industry knowledge on shows such as  Fox News www.foxnews.com where he is becoming a regular guest .

Oil- -Gas-breitling-chris-faulkner-world-finance-Bakken-Energy-Service-tim-fisher

Chris Faulkner is a breath of fresh air amongst the circulated mantra of stale green energy programs endorsed by the Obama Administration and special interest groups. Mr. Faulkner has been a guest on Energy Matters with Radio Show Co-Host and CEO of Bakken Energy Service Tim Fisher. Shown here is Chris Faulkner on the cover  of World Finance, the critically acclaimed bi-monthly magazine and website providing in-depth coverage and analysis of the financial industry and global economy.

Sharp, witty, and to the point, Mr. Faulkner brings bold facts to the  table which for the most part shines a bright light on the failure of the renewable energy projects supported Obama Administration. Companies such as Solyndra www.solyndra.com and California SunPower Corporation www.sunpowercorp.com who is sending jobs and our tax dollars accross the boarder to Mexico.

More American tax dollars down the rat hole of political cronyism.

All to create 10-15 permanent jobs.  That’s not some silly estimate, that’s what the Department of Energy thought would result from the billion dollar loan. Now we know why they call it green energy.

Source – Big Government

The Department of Energy bragged about giving a $1.2 billion loan guarantee to SunPower, a politically connected solar energy company, to create “10-15 permanent jobs,” raising critical questions as to if California SunPower is the next Solyndra in the ongoing Crony-Gate scandal.

Unlike Solyndra, which went bankrupt after receiving the loan from the government leaving taxpayer on the hook, SunPower’s deal is more complicated.  Many questions are being raised about how the company was able to obtain the loan and what they did after they got the money.  Questions include:

  1. How could the Department of Energy give a loan to a company that was under a shareholder suit alleging securities fraud and misrepresentations?
  2. The son of Rep. George Miller (D-CA) who was paid $178,000 to lobby on behalf of the company represented SunPower as a lobbyist.  Why did Rep. George Miller tour the SunPower facility – which is outside his congressional district – and what other official action did Rep. Miller take on behalf of the company that is represented by his lobbyist son?
  3. Did the company’s hefty political contributions to the Obama campaign and the DCCC play a role in the deal?
  4. Did U.S. taxpayers help pay for the company to open a facility in Mexico after the announcement of the loan?
  5. Was the U.S. government aware that company executives were in the process of selling a portion of the company to a French company – an action that was undertaken two weeks after the loan was awarded?  Did the loan allow insider’s to cash out leaving other investors holding on to the stock that has dropped by more than 60% since the loan was awarded?

This and other topics will be covered on Energy Matters www.kfyr.com. Tune in a 550 AM Bismarck and listen to world-class guests such as  Chris Faulkner CEO Breitling Oil and Gas www.breitlingoilandgas.com . Listen to Tim Fisher   Co-Host and CEO of Bakken Energy Service www.bakkenenergyservice.com  and Steve Bakken as influencial guest from  oil and gas giants such as Enbridge www.enbridge.com , Transcanada www.transcanada.com, Whiting Petroleum Corporation www.whiting.com .

Transcanada Talks About Keystone XL Pipeline with Bakken Energy Service CEO Tim Fisher

Transcanada www.transcanada.com spokes person talks about Keystone XL Pipeline with Bakken Energy Service www.bakkenenergyservice.com CEO Tim Fisher Co-Host of the radio talk show Energy Matters on KFYR AM 550 www.kfyr.com in Bismarck North Dakota.

The first topic was informing the listening audience Transcanada already has a pipeline that crosses from the oil sands in Saskatchewan Canada all the way to the oil  refinery in Cushing, Oklahoma. This pipeline has been in use for many years without incident. The Keystone XL Pipeline is a new pipeline proposed to bring oil from the oil sands in Canada all the way to the Gulf of Mexico which will allow the oil sands product to replace the oil currently imported from Venezuela.

The Transcanada Keystone XL Pipeline will bring thousands of high paying jobs to the USA, replace dirty Venezuelan oil, and will keep billions of our US Dollars at home while helping our largest trading partner Canada.

Venezuela oil currently imported to the United States carry more carbon   that of the Canadian Oil Sands virtually reducing green house emissions . When Venezuelan oil in imported to the  United States it has a negative effect on North American countries as nearly 80 % off the oil revenue stays in OPEC country Venezuela and billions of United States currency is sent to a country that is no friend to the United States. Dictator Hugo Chavez has disdain for the United States whereas Canada, our largest trading partner, stands side by side with the United States.

Also Dictator Chavez has 4th stage cancer and is fighting for his life. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57571865/hugo-chavez-fighting-for-his-life-venezuelas-vice-president-says-again/ If he passes there is a real likelihood there will be severe unrest and a potential government overthrow which may end imports to the USA all together.

If the Keystone XL pipeline is approved it will also keep millions of barrels of oil from being shipped to China, India and Pakistan. Canadian oil is a national security advantage for both the United States and Canada.

Jobs, President Obama talks about the creation of high paying jobs and the Keystone XL Pipeline will bring exactly that. A big hurdle- A draft State Department report concludes that  building the Keystone XL  pipeline would not speed up development of  Canada’s oil sands, dealing a blow  to environmentalists who claim  Keystone would worsen climate change. The report from the State Department says the Canada-to-Texas pipeline  would  have little impact on the environment.

“Approval or denial of the proposed project is unlikely to  have a  substantial impact on the rate of development in the oil sands,  or on the  amount of heavy crude oil refined in the Gulf Coast area,” the report says.
